Inaugural NBL Strider World Cup Racing at the Georgia Peach Nationals Is a Roaring Success

2011 Strider Cup: Georgia Peach Nationals
The crowds cheered as toddlers took to the track and competed at the Strider World Cup during the NBL Georgia Peach Nationals, which was configured on a BMX track containing two table tops, a bermed turn and whoops sections. The double header race had perfect weather with a hot sunny day on Saturday and a warm overcast day on Sunday.

Strider World Cup races are competing with the same rule package as the BMX riders and are held at all NBL Nationals. The racing classes include 2, 3, 4, and 5-year-olds by birth year.

“We’re thrilled with the results of the inaugural NBL Strider World Cup at the Georgia Peach Nationals where we saw little kids increase their confidence, balance and riding ability over the two day meet,” explained Ryan McFarland,Founder and CEO of Strider Sports International. “Some families drove over 5 hours to join in the activities, and we had a great group of little riders. They played, they raced, they developed new skills, and they even took naps at the track. And at the end, the smiles and comments from families let us know that we really have something special with the Strider World Cup program. Several families even said they are going to plan family vacations around some of the upcoming events. We can't wait to see how this is going to grow leading up to the US. and World championships!”

NBL CEO Gary Aragon adds, "We couldn't have asked for a better turnout for the first NBL Strider World Cup race in Peachtree City. We are very excited about our partnership with Strider Sports. The partnership will help us further our mission of promoting the sport of BMX Racing to a younger audience, and moreover, promoting healthy lifestyles to our nation's children and families. Additionally, through the spirit of fun competition, participants in the series are able to learn some valuable life skills at an early age. We look forward to the progression of the Strider Cup through this season and into the future."

Each Strider World Cup event will include an Adventure Zone featuring Strider™ test rides and opportunities for kids to play, learn, and socialize with peers while riding on two wheels. Plus, there is a Rider's Lounge where kids can relax in the shade, play with toys, work on crafts, and just be little kids. There's definitely something for every family looking for an outdoor weekend play activity and outing.

Families have two opportunities to jump in the Strider Cup action in the upcoming weekend of racing action :

RACE 2 – SUNDAY RESULTS FROM 2011 GEORGIA PEACH NATIONALS

Day 2 of the Georgia Peach Nationals featured cool overcast skies and hot racing on the BMX track. Four classes of racing ran 2 motos and a main. In the 5 year old class Jesse McFarland jumped out to an early lead and motored his way to the stripe. The best dressed racer at the event was none other than Harley Jackson. Her gear included a pink helmet, pink skirt and pink Strider No-Pedal PREbike. She rocked her outfit with a long black shirt and long black pants.

The 4 year old class included 8 hard charging racers. This was the second day for these Strider Cup racers and you could tell the difference in their confidence, balance and ability to complete the course. At the start of the race we had a tight group of racers hit the bottom of the table top and zoom off. By the first turn JoJo Zolikoff had taken the point with Aiden Gilbert in hot pursuit. Aiden pressured JoJo throughout the race waiting for a slip or bauble but JoJo motored all the way to the finish line for his win.

In the 3 year old class Avery Whitlow took the win. And in the 2 year old class Lilani Pringle showed fearlessness on the hills as she giggled her way to the win.

NBL And Strider Sports International Launch NBL Strider Cup Racing
Participants Will Be Eligible For Strider World Championships in Japan
GAHANNA, OH (March 11, 2011) — The National Bicycle League and Strider Sports International have partnered to bring Strider Cup racing and the Strider World Cup to toddlers in the U.S. and around the world. Strider Cup qualifiers will be held at all NBL Nationals and feature no-pedal PREbike racing with classes available for 2, 3, 4, and 5-year-olds by birth year (ex. 2009 birth year will be 2-year-old, 2008 will be 3-year-old, etc.).
The season-long series will conclude with the Strider Cup USA Championship at the NBL Grand National in Louisville, Kentucky. In addition, any participant in an NBL Strider World Cup event will be eligible to compete in the Strider World Championships in Japan in October 2011. To participate in the NBL Strider Cup Series, riders will need to purchase a $25 NBL Strider Membership. This cost includes the entry fee for the first race and can be upgraded to a full NBL membership at any time.  The membership also includes a 1-year subscription to BMX Nation and an NBL Membership Card – the same card all NBL BMX racers carry.
Each Strider World Cup event will include an Adventure Zone featuring Strider test rides and opportunities for kids to play, learn, and socialize with peers while riding on two wheels.
NBL CEO Gary Aragon adds, “As part of our mission to grow the sport of BMX racing, we recognize the importance of introducing children to the sport at an early age. The increasing popularity of the Strider PREbike presents the perfect platform for the NBL to build a series that brings a taste of BMX racing to toddlers who are just learning the basics of bike riding. And already we’re seeing new families at BMX tracks looking for new adventures for their little Strider riders. We’re confident that many BMX racers of tomorrow will come from the Strider riders of today.”
Strider Sports International CEO Ryan McFarland says, “At Strider, we love riding bikes. But what we love even more is seeing really little kids light up with excitement when they get that first taste of freedom, mobility, and adventure that comes from their first bike experience. We’re thrilled to have the NBL promoting the Strider Cup Racing and Adventure Zone program as we believe it will further fuel that budding passion for riding on two wheels and inspire other kids to get outside, get on a bike, and give it try.”
